Well, it’s been a while, but this post goes out to all my Man U-supporting friends out there. In particular, the wife of an Arse fan (how does that marriage work??) who sat through the game at GMT+7, going through the kind of pain we all went through quite recently.
You know, it’s mixed feelings. Man U were made to look so ordinary, so clueless, so undermotivated, so characterless, that I was left wondering for a great part of the game: now why did we on the other hand, make them look so friggin’ unbeatably unbeatable in the semis?? Screw it. Who knows. Probably because we sucked, but it still gave great pleasure to see (a) that shit-faced look on the Man U bench after the second goal, (b) Ronaldo skulking around with his usual tantrum, (c) Berbatov confirming what a useless twat he is, and (d) Park using his third lung to no particular purpose.
Now let’s see what would’ve happen had we been the ones to face Barca. Yeah, yeah, Barca were amazing, but let’s see: Silvestre would’ve dealt with Messi, Song and Diaby shackled Iniesta and Xavi, and we’d have whipped them good and proper. Heh.
But back to Arse, and you know what has really pissed me off in recent days? When we have news on the Arse website talking about the game. Now why the bloody hell do we have to do that? Does any Arse fan type in www.arsenal.com to read about the Champions League final? Unacceptable, if you asked me. (Note: there was nothing about it on the Chelsea website).
What was worse was Le Boss’s comments re Henry:
“I would want him to do well because I know one thing he needs and he deserves in his career is a successful Final. People don’t realise what happened to him in 2006.
“He played in the Champions League Final and just lost. He knows he had the chance to score the second goal. Then he went on and played in the World Cup Final and they lost on penalties. When you are 30 years-old, how much does that hurt?
“You think that might be my last chance to be in there. For him to go back into the Final and do well is very important.
“So I will support him in this game.”
Bollocks. I wanted Barca to win too, not because of Henry (nor because of Sylvinho), but because nothing would give me greater pleasure than watching Man U lose. (No, actually, watching Chelski lose gives me greater pleasure).
So Henry was interviewed after the game, and he was talking about winning the Champions League at last. Who gives a flyin’ F, you know. It’s like, your wife leaves you, gets interviewed on TV two years later, happy that she’s finally had a good lay. And what? You’re supposed to be happy for her – simply because while she was with you, she at least gave you a couple of good screws? Dammit. Just go away and be happy. If you still so love Arsenal as you claim and even watch our reserves play, then you should’ve stayed. You didn’t, so screw off and kiss your trophy. I just don’t need my manager talking about how happy he is seeing you do it.
And why? Coz it just shows that the manager recognises that the player made the right choice – that he would have had a better chance of winning that elusive medal with Barca, and not Arsenal.
Season’s over then. Well, actually, it was over a while back. But officially, we’ve seen the end of the season. Any FA Cup final involving Chelski’s a waste of time. Silly transfer season’s about to descend. And how much money are we going to put on just about everyone being linked to Arse? And how much money are we going to put on us signing absolutely nobody until 3 minutes before the close of the transfer window? Only to sign some Silvestre-esque fake? And knowing us, we probably won’t off-load Ade too early, coz it’d only let everyone else know just how much money we have to get fleeced off.
Urgh. More pain ahead.
P.S. - Does Hleb get a medal? *snigger* x 2, and how do you say 'doh'! in Belarussian?

Review: Arsenal 1 - Chelsea 4
In short, ouch. Ouch. Ouch. Ouch. Really,if Le Boss thinks we're still fine, and this team is still maturing, then well, he's off his meds. What makes it all the more painful is that in some way, the boys played well, especially at the start. But there's a stark imbalance in the team - great stuff passing, passing, passing, but every time Chelski came beyond the half-way line, it was panic stations.
So if we don't need good defensive midfielders and a good defence, then we live on planet Mars. Is it my imagination or have things gone downhill defensively since Mohawk Billy got injured?? Interesting. Anyway, if we're ever going to get whipped by Chelski, must as well be at an inconsequential game as this one was.
This was painful, there's no doubt. But what the heck, at least it's made some things clear: (a) Ade must go; he's absolutely lost it. Lazy lazy lazy again. Bent Nick's commitment stood in stark contrast. He did the things Ade used to do: run, getting in there, making his presence felt. (b) Diaby's having such a bad string of performances, it's starting to make Song look good.
So apart from getting humiliated on our home patch, there's something potentially more humiliating next weekend: Man U could clinch the title. And let's just wait for it. Another whipping, ass-mauling, made-to-look impotent, similar to male-performance-issues type of defeat could be on the line. Of course, as an Arse fan, I hope not, will expect us to halt the title charge, but really...I don't know.
Le Boss has been saying the same ole crap about keeping the bulk of the team next season. Oh yes, let's see how he gets to see it again after this. Maybe some will do the talking for him. My money's on RVP leaving. Ade too (I hope). Then he would have no choice than to rebuild.
So there. Got whipped by Chelski. Hurts like having been ripped a new a-hole. But c'est la vie. We've got another 4 more months to start dreaming again.

Friggin' Fidier Frogba
In case any of you missed it - and I did - here's the famous rant by M'sieur Fidier Frogba. How could I have missed it. I watched his whole running at the ref, but must've either been switched to the ads at the right time, or I turned it off. Anyways, have fun:
What's more pathetic than his outburst is Rude (how apt) Gullit saying he understands where it all came from, and how he sympathises, etc. What bollocks. Let me tell you why despite all the nonsense about adrenaline, passion, playing in front of home fans, getting robbed by a crap referee, etc, the fact is, it's still absolutely and pathetically unforgivable. These guys are professionals, playing for money - not for the love of god, country, whatever. And being paid cold hard cash: Froga probably in the range of £130,000. So, for that type of money, all one asks is (a) play as a professional on the pitch, and (b) behave like a professional on the pitch. So dude, yes, you were probably robbed by a crap ref, but we've all been there before.
Wonder what my children would think if they saw me on TV behaving a right twat. Wonder what he said to his children too.
So as I've said before. I'm still chuffed to be an Arse fan. Now, there's all this talk about threats to the ref, police having to whisk him away in the still of the night, etc etc etc. We all have heard this before, innit? Remembers Anders Frisk? Another ref - crap ref - whatever, who after officiating...Chelski...faced the same things and eventually...quit the game? Well, let's just say. Chelski, Chelski fans, whatever. They all suck. RESPECT, indeed.
Looking forward to the game on Sunday then. Several things could happen. Chelski get a soft penalty; or not; or pummel the ref...

Perspective
It's Wednesday night. I've just had the pleasure of watching Chelski get their bollocks bloody bursted in the 92nd minute, and I'm feeling rather...at peace. Let's have some perspective then.
First, let's face it. We never really had the team to win against Man U. One leg, two, whatever. The depth of squad, the fullness of their squad, the freedome that each had to play in their best positions, we were way out of our depth. They had Park Ji-sung, the man with three lungs. We had Alex Song. They had Ronaldo play in the middle. We had Adebayor. They had Rio and Vidic. We had Djourou. The list goes on. Much as I love our team and some of the kids, and much as I hate the #!%&! at Man U, as a footballer with a neutral brain, you have to admit that on paper, there was no way in hell we were going to win.
Second, we deserved to get thumped in the first 90 minutes. Justice was done when the tie was killed off after 98 minutes. Luck got us through the first 90, and luck failed us with Gibbs' sorry slip. It all evens out.
Third, expectations have been ridiculous this season. One moment, in December, people were talking of the end of an era, the end of Champions League football for Arse. In May, people were talking about getting to the final. What kind of shit analysis is that? Given our start, our injuries, our team, I'd say we've already overdone ourselves by (a) securing 4th, (b) getting to the semis of the FA Cup, and (c) getting to the semis of the Champions League. Hell, our season was still on as of 6th May. More than could be said of Liverpool.
Fourth, there has to come a point where the bitter truth hopefully dawns on Arsene Wenger. If it doesn't by now, then we should as fans be ready for either (a) lower expectations, or (b) more heartbreak. Our team just can't cut it, from the constant injuries, to the shallowness of the team. Ronaldo somehow never gets injured; Eduardo's body will probably never fully recover. Our defensive middle gets injured with a forceful sneeze, Rio's cracked ribs miraculously heal. Giggs comes on as sub. We have Eboue.
Fifth, there are in the end, footballing gods. Chelski played the perfect 180 minutes of defensive football, confining poor Barca to a painful dose of Arsenal-itis (mindless, hopeful passing around the box). What they forgot was that god has a sense of humour. So if there are footballing gods, then really, gods are fair, and Man U deserved to whip us over the two legs. And Barca deserve to be there for their efforts at playing football.
So I'm a happy-ish Arsenal fan. We did well to get where we did, but failed when all the hidden problems eventually showed up. I pray the team stays together for at least one more season. But I wouldn't blame some of them if they left. Of course, I'd be chuffed if Song, Denilson, Silvestre, Rosicky, and Ade left, to leave us with a gazillion pounds to spend on propers defenders and defensive midfielders. Would RVP leave? I hope not, but he may. Would Cesc leave? Probably not yet. I hope Bent Nick stays. I think he at least has the right spirit.
Finally then. Can't wait for Sunday. When I get to see Arsely Hole, Lampard, Terry, and the like. And pass them a tissue for their little tears. Who cares if we lose. I love my team, and would rather them any time to the twats in blue who harassed the ref at the end of the game for god knows what reason. We deserved to lose. And they didn't deserve to win. And both will face each other in a dead rubber Sunday. How nice.
As for perspective. Consider this sad story. I joke about suicide after the sad display, but this guy took it seriously. For all you guys out there making £80,000 a week and content with mediocre performances, remember that there are fans around for whom Arse are not life and death. It's more important.
