Well, the quote of the off-season so far has come from Bacary Sagna, who when asked if his 6 year contract meant something long term, he said: “Not necessarily. In fact, it doesn’t mean anything. The proof is that most of the players leave even when they are under contract."
Amen to that. Now, I don't think he means anything personal about that, but he's calling a spade a spade in these mercenary days of multi-million dollar deals. Contracts are worth jack shit, and we all know it. There's no point anybody talking about "my heart's with this club, blah blah, blee blee" anymore. There's little credibility left in anybody who does. Henry said it, and it didn't take him longer than 9 months to move on from there. Broken marriage or otherwise.
"The important thing is most of all to perform well", he says. Well of course. I'm clinging on to the fact that Arsenal Football Club stands for something different, and until I'm convinced otherwise, that's what I'll do. For that reason, nothing engenders better feelings in me than Bergkamp's career at Arsenal, and how he eventually left.
If ever anyone needs another example of pathetic barrel-scraping journalism, check this out. Basically, someone heard Rafael Nadal (yes, the one who plays tennis) ask someone about Ronaldo, and someone said he's set on Madrid. So, that looks like he is. Pathetic.
Talking about pathetic, first, Hleb goes and expectedly takes back his comments. Oh, sorry sorry. I didn't really mean it. I never said it, he says. Whatever. Just f off quietly, why don't you. And true to form, the next bit of news is that he's on his way to Barca, and that it'll be announced in days. Pfffft. Just spare us. Whatever happens, I'm just glad we made good profits from him and Ade. That's more than what we can say of some other teams. hah!
Quiet quiet day. Can't take this anymore.
